As a scene kid you need to learn and sing along with the latest music. Sometimes you also need to compose your own. Popular scene kids music comes in many and different genres.
Rock music provides a recipe for the scene kids to sample. It is enjoyed in its hard rock or classic rock versions. There are those kids who associate with Heavy Metal Rock music to bring about their perceived hardcore nature, as this is highly valued in the scene world.
Rated popular by the scene kids is Punk music sampled in either pop or skate versions. There are also those kids who prefer such genres as Techno, Dance music and Trance. For any piece of music to be popular in scene kids it must be relevant to them and among the yardsticks for this is that it has to be worded well, with the correct rhythm heavy beats and most importantly must be played loud.

Music with a theme of love is also highly regarded. This is contrasted with such genres as country music, which is considered for the non-scenes and reggae as old-fashioned and therefore to the scene kids its nothing but noise.
A nice piece of music for the scene kids is therefore recent in its rhythm, from a popular artist, must be accompanied by scenic videos and properly worded such that it fits well into the scene.

There are a number of areas in this latest scene kids’ trend associated with this label and used as criteria to determine whether or not you are an insider or you are just posing as a scene kid. It melts back to whether one is capable of living up to its expectations or sits back and let the cool guys take charge. Trends that define scene kids are many and diverse.
Latest dressing trends in scene kids involve bright neon colored clothes for girls which must go well with the current fashion. This is better when these clothes appear in multiples as every day is considered a unique one and being in the same style of clothes is no longer considered ‘cool’ in the scene world. If you are not in tight fitting and skinny jeans from a reputed designer, well matched shoes and long and colored hair- natural or with extensions- then you belong to another world.

Every season has its dictates when it comes to the choice of clothing to wear both indoors and outdoors. True as this may be, fashion trends and tastes take center stage in the choice of outfit that scene kids prefer during winter in their quest to retain their identity distinct from the rest.
Winter coats which normally come in black, brown or grey colors are preferable in such climatic conditions but in the scene kids’ world, these coats are better when they are in mixed colors and designed uniquely with bright plaids and interesting prints. Scene kids usually prefer those coats made of their favorite material such as fur. However it does not matter much if they are truly fur or not as long as they look gorgeous and fabulous. These coats are then matched with winter shoes or boots which are also of bright color. The skinny summer jeans gives way to warmer outfits such as sweater dresses and designer tunic dresses.
It is fashionable to the scene kids to wear laced knee high boots. To add to the fashion, they are then equipped with shiny rings around the ankle to look fabulous and fashionable. They are also supplemented with stockings to match. These trends are usually dictated by the fashion leaders and icons in form of famous personalities rather than the true dictates of the climatic conditions.
Scene kids will therefore go for those outfits which are not only warm but cater to reinforce their scenic preferences as seen in those that they idolize or emulate. Skivvies and versatile dressing styles are just the thing in winter scene fashions. Hip ties are nice with sweater dresses while bright belts are fancied by the scene boys during winter.

DIY: Rosettes
Rosettes are the perfect way to jazz up a plain outfit or to add a little girliness to your boring look! You can put them on jackets, scarves, headbands, shoes, and purses. Just be creative! Making rosettes out of ribbon, or an old strip of fabric, is super easy! There are a lot of styles of rosettes, but I’ll teach you a basic rosette shape that you can easily experiment with to create new looks.
1. Find a good material: Organza, silk, and brocade make very romantic rosettes while cotton or wool make a good, basic rosette. A 2-inch wide ribbon works well, and if you take a scrap of fabric you may want to sew right sides together and turn it inside out (as if you were making straps) to hide the raw edges. Experiment with different lengths for different looks. A good length to start with is 12 inches.
2. Stitch and Gather: Make a basting stitch down one side of the ribbon (or the middle for a different look). Then pull on the thread at one end, so that the ribbon gathers (or scrunches up in lay language).

3. Connect the edges: Stitch a secure knot where the two ends overlap into a circle. (hand sewing is always the easiest). Often times, you only have to sew the corners together on the side with stitches. This step really depends on how you want your rosette to look. Once you gather the ribbon, it will begin to look like a little flower, so you can use your instincts while finishing it up!
4. Add embellishment to finish it up: Sew a little button, bead, etc. to the middle of the rosette to add a little flair, if you want! Not all rosettes need something in the middle but it often improves the look a lot!

Trend 2010: Nails
In fashion, details are everything. So while it may seem ridiculous that trends even exist for ways to decorate the tough bits of keratin protruding from a persons finger, the truly fashion-conscious will always remember that fashion merely exists in generalities; it thrives in detail.
How to File and Buff Your Nails
Just thought it would be a useful opening.
Make sure you have: nail clippers, an emery board (no metal nail files unless you want to shred your nails to pieces), a nail buffer with at least 3 types of grain, and preferably some kind of hand and nail moisturizer. Cuticle oil is optional, but I highly recommend it.
1) Wash your hands/nails. If you have a nail care kit, this is where you use the brush to get the grime from under your nails.
2) Dry your hands thoroughly: you dont want to buff or file nails after a bath as this will cause the nails to flake
3) Trim your nails with nail clippers, but leave enough nail to file later
4) Sweep the emery board across the top of the nail again and again. If you want a square nail, sweep it straight across the tip of the nail. If you want a curved shape, gently slide the emery board across each corner. The file should only lightly touch the nail. Do not file along the side of your nails, but rather slightly underneath it so you dont get a rough edge.
5) If you're going to polish your nails, you don't need to buff them.
6) The course surface of a buffer is used to remove ridges, the smooth surface gives the nail a shine, and the third is generally a final polish. There are some buffers with 4 sides though, but those will often tell you in what order to use the sides.
7) Move the course surface across the nail horizontally. Stop when the ridges are smooth. Don't buff ridges more than once per month or you will end up with excessively thin nails.
8) Buff them to shine
9) Use the final side of the buffer to complete. You can do this every week to keep them shining.
10) Use moisturizer
Note: Do NOT cut cuticle. Some people say trimming them is okay, but I say best avoid it as this can cause them to overgrow. Instead invest in cuticle oil (it's usually not very expensive) and use tools to push them back. You should do this before you buff your nails.
Furthermore, clarifying a popular myth: While keeping your nail polish in your refridgerator will prevent decoloration due to reduced solvent evaporation, putting a highly flammable fixture in a sealed box with a motor is never a good idea, so just be safe and put your nail polish in a dark, cool spot.
Winter 2010 Trends
Nail colors this winter are very dark, from the classic black to darker hues of red, blue, and purple. Metallic finishes or anything with a slight shimmer are preferable, however, just like everything else, you should consider what color works for you best. If you have darker skin tones a strong black nail polish or an aubergine with a slight shimmer will work well. If you have a tan complexion, a deep purple or red with a metallic shimmer will flatter your olive complexion. Finally, if you have fair skin, shades of blue or red's with a brownish tint will allow you to exercise these trends without seeming gothic.
If you're a little more conservative and black is too strong for you, nudes in opaque are bold but still natural.
The nail shape for 2009-2010 seems to have shifted from the square shape to more of a squoval (I know, cool word), 'natural' shape. Keep them short-medium: you don't often have easy-to-maintain fashion trends, so take advantage of it!
Designs
Half-moon manicure, or “reverse French mani”, hit the runways for Fall 2009 (e.g. Christian Dior) and seems to still be lingering around for Winter 2010. Designs for winter tend to be bold and simple, so half-moon manicures are probably the most elaborate nail design you'll be seeing this winter.
Nevertheless, I have my own creative explorations.

Piet Mondrian
This is my staple nail design. I discovered my love for Piet Mondrian some years ago and thus as a means of minor procrastination decided to use his designs for my nails. I consider this fashion move to be a sign of genius in me and thus you'll find it difficult to effectively insult me when I have bothered to do this nail design.
Here I try to attempt a Jackson Pollack-esque nail design, which I snagged from Seventeen magazine a couple years back, but of course they did it better.
Brands
Regardless of the brand, you should have at least a transparent top coat to avoid chipping. However, if you really want a good nail polish, Revlon and Lakme seem to be the top brands in nail polish. But really, anything as long as it isnt dirty-cheap will be fine.

Scene hair is for those people that so not mind a wild and crazy look. However, for any woman that wants to go this route the procedure is relatively simple.
The first and important thing to do is to cut some layers in the hair. They can be in the front the back the middle and everywhere in between depending on the look the individual is going for. Some women even like to have jagged bangs. The best ways to get the cuts is by using a razor. This helps to really emphasis the cut. Most scene hairstyles are composed of various or odd colors so individuals need to choose their color or colors and dye their hair. Many of the hairstyles are two tones so it might be fun to mix blonde and black. The hair is then straightened generally with the help of a flat iron.
Ladies can then tease and pump up their layers so that they kind of stick up and out in some cases. Hairspray and gel are two of the best products for this step. The great thing about scene hair is that it is very eccentric there is no wrong or right for the style to look so just have fun with the hairstyle.

Fashion Inspiration:
Do you feel that your style has become limited or are you bored with your clothes? Do you want to try something new with your personal style but don’t know how? Or do you simply want to have a greater variety of fashion inspiration?
In fashion, inspiration is endless. We don’t only get inspiration from runway shows or street looks, but also from movies, paintings, history, and even furniture or buildings. Basically everything in our daily life can inspire our style. So in this section, we will include a variety of fashion inspiration, and hope you can get some new and fresh ideas into your closet!
I decided to do my first “Fashion Inspiration” article on the award-nominated movie, “500 Days of Summer”. Honestly speaking, it is not my type of movie, as I tend to prefer the unrealistic and romantic love that lasts forever. However, I found myself completely attracted to Summer Finn's (played by Zooey Deschanel) clothes. Her style is simple with a retro feel, which, with a few alterations, can be pulled-off easily in our everyday life.
General Style
I will start with the elements for the general style: dress shirts, preppy style elements and high-waist bottoms.
Dress shirt
Summer often wears dress shirts, both to work and to a date. It makes her look smart but fun at the same time! There are many types of dress shirts, but to have Summer’s cute and feminine look, I suggest shirts with lace-collars, butterfly sleeves, or a long dress shirt that can be worn as a dress. This way, you won’t look overdressed.
Preppy Style
This is one of my favorite styles of all time! Summer pulls it off really well by simply wearing a shirt under a plaid cardigan and a pleated skirt. If you don’t want to look like you are wearing a school uniform, you can choose only one or a few of the elements and shorten the skirt to look sexier. Wearing a tie can also be really cute!
High-waist
One of the easiest ways to have a retro style is to wear high-waist skirt or shorts. This not only adds more variety to your look, but it also makes your legs look longer. Summer often pairs her high-waist bottoms with a dress shirt. Another simple way to do this is to wear a high-waist dress, or use a belt above the waist to have a more defined hour-glass shape.

Special Elements
If you don’t particularly want to look like Summer, but want to use some of the elements in her style to spice up your own, here are some cute ideas that I like about her style.
Blue
This is just a color that I repetitively see in her clothes. I personally have lots of blue clothes for some reason, but if you don’t, I think blue creates a comfortable and soft look, and it’d be a more lively basic color compared to black or grey.
Bows
I have realized that Summer often puts bow in her hair. It is definitely cute, and you can wear it as a headband like Blair Waldorf of "Gossip Girl", or as a hair tie, which adds a liveliness to the look. This is also a great element for a school-girl look.
Brooches
Brooches can add color to a plain shirt, and you can easily create a vintage look by coordinating brooches with your outfit. You can put one on the collar of a shirt like Summer does, pin it on your pearl necklace, or pin it on your scarf, which is both unique and useful to keep the scarf in place!

Dressing scene can be so much fun. Creativity combined with boldness and innovation make scene the best way to be on the planet. Shoes are a cool way to spice up a scene wardrobe. This fall, there are two types of shoes that set the trend for girls’ scene dressing. Sneaker and heels are the shoes to coordinate with your scene clothing.
High tops or skater sneakers are the best types of shoes to be wearing with skinny jeans. It would be so cool if you could get your hands on a pair of original Chuck Taylor’s or Vans. Check your parents’ closets and if you don’t find any there, make a trip to the thrift store. If the thrift store doesn’t have any, you can find a new pair at the mall. Just make sure they are bright colors, as the trend this fall is for the shoes to contrast with the black jeans.
If you are a fan of mini skirts or sheath dresses, you’ll want to get yourself an awesome pair of high-heeled ankle boots. Suede or leather makes the perfect material for the boots. Again, as with the sneakers, the key with the boots is for them to be a really bright color. Hot pink, aqua and purple heel ankle boots are so popular this fall. Remember to put on those fish-net stocking with the ankle boots for a totally cool look!

To get that total scene look, you have to make sure that you have the right piercings. Piercings are an artistic way to express yourself, but if you are going for a certain look, you have to know the latest trends. You can use creativity with body art, but there are a few things to keep in mind.
For girls, lip piercings are totally hot. And as far as numbers go, the more piercings in the lips, the better. However, you don’t go overboard because too much metal can take away from your overall scene look. Scene girls also look really good with and eyebrow piercing or two. And of course, the typical ear piercings are essential. Try to stick to metal balls and small hoops, as dangling earrings aren’t scene trendy right now.
For scene guys, a piercing that experts call a “snake bite” is really popular right now. This is when two piercings are made through the bottom lip. The holes should be put at each end of the lower lip. Putting a small, silver hoop through each hole looks really cool. It will be even trendier if you can find hoops that have small balls on them.
Piercings are an important way of making a complete scene look. If you aren’t allowed to get piercings, you can find magnetic ones in stores that will give you the same look without the holes! Use your creativity and have fun with your piercings as to strive to get that total scene style!

Doing your makeup the right way is pretty important to getting a scene look. You can have the right clothes, accessories, hair, piercings and tattoos, but without the makeup, your look just will not be complete.

First of all, your makeup needs to be pretty thick. You do not want it caked on your face, but scene isn’t the natural look so stay away from earth tones. With foundation, you’ll want to go a shade paler than your natural skin color. A little paler of a base can provide great contrast for the eye makeup.
Next, you will want to work on the eye makeup. Black eyeliner is an absolute staple of the scene makeup kit. It should be applied on both the upper and lower lids with a thick line in both places. If you are really good with that eyeliner, you can get bold and extend it past the eyes for a more severe look. Finish off the eyes with a colored eye shadow like blue or pink. It looks really cool when you match the eye shadow to the colored streaks that are in your hair. Finish off the eyes with mascara and a semi-dark eyebrow pencil. This can be tricky, so you may have to experiment with several different colors.

The essence of scene make-up lies in being unique, eye-catching, and sexy. The scene make-up is basically comprised of heavy black eyeliner, big lashes, and dazzling eye shadows.

If you don’t know how to go about it, the scene make-up therefore can easily be make you look either “dramatically sexy,” or “like a rain-drenched sad clown.” Thus, you need to remember a few pointers such as follows in doing scene make-up.
• Always apply eye primer to set your eye make up in place. With your black eyeliner, line your upper lid from the inner to the outer corner, carefully forming a fan or a wing-like figure on the corners for that added dramatic effect. Then line your lower lids in the same manner. You may also use the same eye shadow to line your lower lids. Although black is essential in scene make-up, you could also go for purple, gray, blue or even neon colors to be a little unique.
• Go for bright eye shadows such as pink, fuchsia, lavender, bright green with gold undertones, or any bright colors that match your eyes, skin and hair. Using an angled brush, dab bright colored eye shadow carefully from the lash line to the bottom of the brow bone. Make sure to apply it evenly on both lids. For a retro 80’s look, you may also play with combinations of eye shadow shades, just make sure they blend well and are balanced on both lids.
• Apply two coats of black mascara or fake eyelashes. You could also wear fake eyelashes which readily add a sense of drama, mystery, and glamour.

Goodwill's Glitter Sale
This weekend was Goodwill's Annual Glitter Sale, and after a great transportation debacle, two girlfriends and I made it to the International District. The Glitter Sale section was separate from the normal merchandise and walking into said section was quite overwhelming. Hardcore returners, clad in leotards and swimwear (there are no dressing rooms for the sale) heaved piles of sparkle and shine, guarding their treasures like lionesses. The racks boasted vintage pieces, furs, and other indulgent fashions that no wallflower would dream of putting on. I was searching for the perfect leather jacket - an exhaustive search that has been going on for about a year - to no avail. I did however, find an odd sweater that mixed some glam with a bondage feel. Sex and sparkle are themes I often incorporate into my wardrobe, so obviously this was a hit in my book. Monday, I sexed it up a bit more with some "ripped" leggings I found at Buffalo Exchange, my favorite faux-leather jacket, and tall Hunter rain boots. A woman in the Communication Building's Advising office - a former hippie - complimented me on my "trousers" and noted that she made some similar pants during the Sixties or Seventies. I then professed my love for hippies. She was pleased. After classes, my roommate, Ian Ostericher was kind enough to take some photos of me in a stairwell with some assistance from the lovely Kimberly Roberts.

he New Year is here and with it, the "new look" in teen fashion. This spring and summer's fashion trends are big, bold, loud and proud. The styles are a bit of a throwback to the 1980's, leaving behind everything bad and bringing back only the good. From bold, beautiful plaids in purples and browns, to spangle dangles jewelry, to chunky footwear, teen fashions for spring 2009 have a lot to say.
Colors- The colors for spring 2009 teen fashions are vibrant on the one hand, and classic on the other. Turquoise is the latest shade of blue to hit the runways, showing up in everything from prom gowns to tankinis, hats to scarves. Bright fuchsia is the year's hottest pink. Combine turquoise and fuchsia and you've got an eye-popping, traffic stopping outfit that could come straight off the runway. On the more laid back fashion scene, navy is turquoise's hot blue cousin. Whether a jacket or a swim cover, if it's navy blue it's going to be in demand. Brown is another of the spring's main colors. From handbags to formals, brown continues to be the "new" black for fashion. Coming in the middle of the two color extremes is purple. From deep, royal purples fit for princesses the world over, to more subtle shades of violet, purple stands in the gap, offering you choices that could be either vibrant and bright or laid back or classic.

Skaters normally have a variety of hairstyles, due to the fact that many skaters often lead different lives than just what is seen on the skating scene. However, the skater scene offers a few variances on emo type hairstyles for the norm.

Long hair on females is normally not seen, as it is worn under caps or beanies. But long hair is a general scene fashion statement, and is normally dyed. Males are also known to wear their hair long, or to the shoulders, but no longer. ‘Shag’ haircuts are common in the skater scene, and fringe as well as straightened bangs is considered the highest fashion with skaters of all ages.
Males with short hair can be found on the skater scene, but rarely with a buzz or military style cut, as this is not a normal skater cut. Short hair is more or less confined to new skaters, or those that are not on the scene as skaters, but simply as ‘posers’.

Teen's glad : Nikeisha Richardson
TEEN Nikeisha Richardson was the talent the judges were looking for.
The Year 12 All Saints Anglican School student competed against 69 other teenage models at the $100,000 Opal Fashion Bash '08 in Townsville earlier this month.
The 16-year-old caught the eye of the judges, both with her beauty and her clothing designs.
Nikeisha was recognised as the most outstanding model, teenage model of the year and placed third in the best dressed surf-swimwear category.
As well as her successes on the catwalk, Nikeisha took out third place in the best tropical resort wear for her designs.
"I think it was good experience to get my name out there in the modelling industry," she said.
"It was also lots of fun going up there with the girls from school, our teacher and my mum."
When her name was called, Nikeisha said she wasn't paying attention because she had no expectations about the event.
"All of a sudden everyone was looking at me and I couldn't work out why," she said.
For her efforts Nikeisha won a seven-night holiday, a five-day Tamblyn Models course, an opal necklace and bracelet, a $300 cheque and a modelling contract.
The talented teen encouraged others to enter in similar contests to boost their confidence.
"You have no idea what the judges are looking for and so you just have to do it your way and hope they pick you," she said.
"I entered one of my designs in another competition and I spent so much time on it and didn't win.
"I was discouraged but decided to give the Fashion Bash a go and I ended up doing well so I learned not to give up."
Several other All Saints students flew home from the competition with prizes, including Angela Walsh and Anna McMillan, who came first and second respectively in the best hand-drawing section.
Their teacher, Kill Shehab, was not to be outdone by the students, winning the voters' prize for the most outstanding computer-generated drawing.
Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus Date
Miley Cyrus (16) and former boyfriend Nick Jonas (16) went on a lunch date on Saturday in Los Angeles. Nick was so nervous that he got into a car accident. Miley is bad luck for Nick. It’s never a good idea to go on a date with your stalker.
Miley looks so excited (below) that she’s on a date with Nick she can barely contain herself. Miley seems to have forgotten that Justin Gaston is supposed to be her boyfriend. Maybe those multiple gay rumors are true after all.
Miley said the other day she checks her boyfriend’s phone to see who they’ve been calling a send tex messages to. It seems Miley’s boyfriends should be more worried about Miley cheating.

Radiohead tell Miley Cyrus to grow up
Radiohead have responded to Miley Cyrus after she claimed they snubbed her at the Grammys।
The Hannah Montana star, 16, wanted to meet the band at the annual music event last month.
‘My manager asked and said, you know, “Miley, she's really obsessed and she'd really like to meet them,” and they were like, “Yeah, we don't really do that,”’ Miley said in a radio interview.
‘I left because I was so upset. I wasn't going to watch! I'd already texted all my friends, we were all freaking out. Stinkin' Radiohead! I'm going to ruin them. I'm going to tell everyone.’
Responding to the threat, Radiohead told Us Weekly: ‘When Miley grows up, she’ll learn not to have such a sense of entitlement.'
Teen turns trash to fashion in 'trashion' show
Wylie High School sophomore Ashley Brown, 16, stole the show at the Abilene Public Library "Trashion Show" Saturday.
OK, she was the only contestant. But that did not dampen the enthusiasm of those who came to watch her walk down the runway modeling not one but three outfits made of duct tape, plastic or recycled material.
Not many girls could create a change of clothing fit for a day at the office, a picnic in the park, or a social event on 5th Avenue with just a little plastic, scissors and tape. Even Cindy Crawford might have envied Ashley's ingenuity, creativity and thrift in assembling a wardrobe that probably cost her less than $10.
Meredith Adams, library assistant and a graduate of Hardin-Simmons University, did not let the lack of contestants dampen her spirit for the event. Adams organized the event after learning of similar fashion shows in Australia, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
Although Adams could not enter the "trashion show," she came dressed for the occasion by wearing a dress of an old window curtain and a blouse put together with duct tape and plastic.
"This was our first event," she said enthusiastically, "but we will have them again."
Adams organized the event to bring more teens to the library, and she said she believes this is a good start.
Reanay Brown, Ashley's mother, sat beaming as Ashley modeled for the audience.
When Ashley walked in front of the audience, it didn't seem to bother her that the bags had small Target logos all over them along with ideas for reusing the bags. The list included trashcan liner, doggy duty, toiletry tote, kitty litter liner, and water balloon -- nothing about wearing them.
Ray and Peggy Gooch came to the show to watch Ashley. They cheered after she showed each outfit.

Contrary to popular belief...
HG and I did not get into a fight and decided to stop working together on I am Fashion and started our own blogs instead. (Even our mutual friends wondered about it!) We still email each other daily about the intricate details of our lives and random thoughts we have, and feel extremely empty when the other is away and has no access to the internet. When I freak out, she is the first person I call and she is still my maid of honor when I fantasize about my wedding. Our reasons for closing down I am Fashion still stands, though I do think that my later rationalization of it in this blog is a better articulation of how we feel.
As for us continuing to blog even more regularly than before, I attribute it to the "newness" of our blogs. Starting a new blog is like starting a relationship. At the beginning everything is new and exciting as you get to know the other person and watch your relationship grow and mature. Every up and every down is a significant moment. Then the honeymoon phase eventually wears off and you reach a happy medium, where your relationship becomes a part of your daily life. With any luck, you will live happily ever after in this state with a few surprises here and there to spice up the norm. If not, your relationship will wane and you grow apart, eventually deciding that you are both better off parting ways.Clearly I'm in the honeymoon phase. We are starting to explore new things together, trying to figure out what works best for the both of us. Every new post is an adventure. Every comment and email is exciting. I want to spend every moment of everyday with it, checking on its progress i.e. stalking the traffic, the incoming and outgoing links etc. It's an exhilarating feeling that I'd almost forgotten about!
Analogy aside, it is heartwarming to read everyone's encouraging comments and to know that we were able to leave a small footprint on some people's lives.
