Lessons Learned

Although my short trip to New York was quite a whirlwind, I managed to return to Missouri a little wiser (and a little poorer -- two days of venti lattes and pretzel croissants was surprisingly pricey).
I learned to never underestimate a pair of hire-me heels. I found the perfect cognac pumps, my first big girl buy, that put a spring in my step even when I was going on mile four and blister seven.

More important than a pair of shoes, I learned that if you enjoy the interview, you're bound to enjoy the job, too. Other tell-tale signs a profession is right for you:
...if you compliment the interviewer on her shoes, because you have the same ones, and she compliments you on your skirt, because she has the same one.
...if, during an interview, you feel like you could grab a cup of coffee and gab about social media, fashion blogs, and the invaluableness of twitter with the higher ups for the rest of the afternoon.
..if the thought of waiting three whole weeks to start a job seems insufferable.

Benefits of Wearing Maternity Trousers and Nursing Dresses
If you're pregnant, then you know that it's important to do some walking to help keep you and your baby pregnant - and the delivery easier. To allow you greater comfort when you're at work, doing errands, or just getting some fresh air, wear a reliable pair of maternity trousers. These trousers can help you move around without difficulty since there's more room in the leg area and you won't have to take as much care as you would when you're wearing a skirt.
If you're expecting, then you also know that nursing dresses are very important. They can make things easier for you once the baby arrives. As you know, breastfeeding is still the most recommended means of feeding infants; you'd definitely want to try that out so your precious bundle of joy can have the benefits that breastfeeding offers. But to be able to pull that off wherever you are, whether you're enjoying family life at home or out in a public place like a mall or a restaurant, you'd need to have maternity dresses for nursing purposes. They can provide convenience, protection, and a little privacy.
Everything About Designer Jeans
Today, jeans are no longer meant for tough workplaces. From work gears, denims have become classy and can be worn for even the most posh do. This change has been brought about by the exclusivity of the designer jeans.
Today you can find both men's as well as women's designer jeans that will look classy. You can even wear these jeans to office, parties, formal dos and even up-class restaurants. Have you noticed how many celebrities walk the red carpet or attend important social gatherings in designer clothings?
So why are such jeans so popular?
Designer jeans make sure that you look unique - they are not one of those run-of-the-mill jeans that you can buy off the shelves while you are purchasing your house-hold goods. Designer jeans are usually one-of-a-kind. So you can be certain that you will not run across someone wearing exactly the same pair!
Both men's and women's designer jeans have a better cut and style - thus flattering your body. Some of the jeans are even 'engineered' to sit snugly over the curves of your body - accentuating just the right curves, while making sure that the excess flesh (if any) remain well out of sight.
Why buy such jeans?
Designer jeans cost you much more than regular ones. So, before you buy one, ask yourself why you need one. The exclusive factor that comes with these jeans is of course very endearing. But apart from this, the fabrics that are used in case of designer jeans are of much better quality, so they will automatically last you longer.
However, at the same time, keep in mind that the denims are, after all, just a cotton fabric. Thus, if you are prone to washing your jeans twice every week, or if you like to wear them everyday, you should not buy a designer jeans as they will get damaged easily - thus wasting your money in no time.
Taking care
Though your favorite pair of jeans may have the rugged and distressed look, you still have to take care of them while washing, if you do not want to ruin the look and the shape of the jeans.
You can increase the life span of your jeans by washing them less and by not rough using them. Avoiding washing machines to wash the jeans is especially important, as they can distress your jeans very soon. Instead, hand wash them with a mild soap. Avoid using harsh cleaning chemicals on your jeans.
Wash the jeans in cold water, as this will prevent the denims from losing its color and also from shrinking. Also, turn the jeans inside out, before washing them. Once you are done with the washing allow it to dry naturally. Also remember that some of the embellished jeans need to be dry washed only, so make sure that you read the inside of the jeans, before you wash them.
Barker Shoes - The Best Footwear For Your Children
The most common problems that a child might face due to poor quality shoes are -
* Since a child wears shoes for long hours at a stretch in school or while going out to play or for outings, their feet usually sweat a lot in the suffocated conditions and the heat. If the shoes are not well designed or are not made of good quality fabric or leather, then the sweat is not able to evaporate off the feet, which causes it to stagnate and give rise to infections in the feet and also the foul odor that you can notice in your kid's shoes.
* Apart from this cheap shoes are usually made of poor quality rubber soles in order to cut production costs. Thus, after a certain period of usage, these rubber soles tend to get hardened and hurt the feet of the child when they run or play. This might cause harm your child's delicate toes.
* Cheap shoes are also not properly designed and stitched and not trendy at the same time, thus making them a very bad investment in the long run.
To get the future in footwear with good comfort and style for your kids, Barker shoes are recommended by all experts. They are among the very few international footwear brands that design and launch children's footwear line from time to time around the year, to meet the needs of the customers. Barker shoes have their inception in Italy with repute of the world's best fashion footwear brand. Barker shoes for boys and girls are both excellently crafted, delicately embroidered and stitched and styled to perfection.
Apart from this barker shoes are made of perforated luxurious leather with a special insole made with Latex Foam that absorbs all perspiration and leaves the feet dry. The outer sole of barker shoes are specially made of light material that help in keeping your kid active all day long and also have an anti-skid grip that makes them perfect for running or walking.

The City Finale Party

A nice PR girl generously asked if I was interested in throwing a finale party for The City, courtesy of myZeno, and I couldn't pass up such a fun opportunity. A few days ago, I received six gift bags and a gift card for party necessities (cupcakes, dips, fruity drinks) and promptly sent out invites to six City-loving girls.

More than fifteen people ended up coming, but that's okay. I'm moving out of my college apartment in a few weeks, and I had yet to throw an actual party, so this served as the perfect excuse! We were having so much fun that pictures became an afterthought, but I did managed to snap a few.

As for the episode, I thought it was great and I desperately hope this isn't that last season, despite unrelenting rumors. If it does go the way of The Hills, at least we had a proper party to bid it farewell.
A huge thank you to the team at AlisonBrodPR and myZeno for one of my best summer nights yet!

Ice Cream Man

I was only in the city for 48 hours, and this is what I did: walked seven miles in three-inch heels, saw six of my favorite East Coast friends, went to five interviews, ate four of Whole Foods delicious homemade granola bars, and perhaps most impressive of all, saw the Van Leeuwen Ice Cream Truck three times.
Seeing the bright yellow Van Leeuwen truck feels sort of like spotting a celebrity on the streets of New York. They are elusive, thrilling, and often hidden by hordes of people. And in Van Leeuwen's case, for good reason. The man behind the van is a former Good Humor driver who began making ice cream with artisan ingredients, creating something of a sophisticated Mister Softee experience for big kids.
I spent my last afternoon in the city wandering around the West Village, visiting Marc by Marc Jacobs, and catching the Van Leeuwen truck, decked out in Coach, parked in front of the accessory store's downtown outpost. The only thing better than an adorable ice cream truck with stylish scoopers? A free ice cream cone after a whirlwind week.

eating like a king
People like to complain about how expensive things in New York City are. Yes, my bottle of water was $3. Yes, my taxi ride that should have been a 10 minute walk had I not been wearing heels was $10. And yes, my hotel room that is roughly the size of a king bed was, well, too much. But today I learned that when I move to NYC I can remain well-fed without going broke; I found what must be the perfect food for just a few bucks and a few quarters. A little salty, a little sweet, and perfect for breakfast or lunch (as I enjoyed it today), City Bakery's pretzel croissant is my new favorite food.
Fortunately, the baked good was fresh from the oven. Unfortunately, it was so hot to the touch that I had to buy an iced coffee just to cool my mouth off. Iced coffee and a New York City bakery treat? Best meal ever.

summer in the city
I'm flying out to New York tomorrow to spend a few days planning my big move. My last day working retail was bittersweet. As great as it is to be surrounded by clothes all day, I look forward to earning a paycheck that isn't spent entirely on dresses, jackets, and sweaters that I don't need. In the future, hopefully I'll only spend half of my salary on my closet.I'll only be in the city a little over 48 hours, but I hope to fit in as much as possible... even though I plan on being back on the East Coast for good within the month.
If you had two days in the city, what would you do? I want to eat cupcakes, shop for shoes, buy a book at the Strand, wander around the West Village, visit Marc Jacobs (the store, not the designer), sit in Central Park, find an apartment, land a job, wear my new navy blazer that makes me feel like a grown-up, and find the Gossip Girl filming (which resumes this week... fate, is that you?).

The Most Adorable - Scene Kids

The Most Adorable- Scene Kids
It has been an area of confusion and inhibition that the scene kids are somewhat like the Emos. But it is important to understand that the scene kids are fun loving, outgoing and loves to party a lot. They can be spotted at shows and get together while the Emo kids are sad and not so happy. The Scene kids are considered to be the best as they tend to be caring more about their overall appearance as compared to the actual emotions, the main faux pas in Emo group.
Talking about the appearance of the scene kids, they are in a way similar to the Emos however, the scenes are different in their attitude. These kids love to go out of their routine to be more adorable. They highlight how adorable they actually are by worshipping the Hello Kitty thereby making some obscure references to the ninjas.
Even these scene kids are featured with a dictionary that many of the people do not actually have even access to. The kids can be quite hard to be understood at some times, but generally they can tell you what they mean. When these kids are not surfing the net, they can be easily spotted at the shows. A much loved pass time of these kids is to know the local friends, be friends with them and then boast about it.

Fashionista asks...
All my love,

Happy Fourth of July!

Fourth of July is my favorite holiday weekend, partially because my birthday falls on the fifth. I've spent the last two in New York City, and while they were both great, I can't wait for an old-fashioned Missouri Fourth of July complete with fireworks, fireflies, fruity drinks... and lots and lots of bottle rockets.
Watching a grand firework show off the pier of the Hudson River is pretty great, but there's something even more magical about watching them from your parent's yard.
My uniform for the weekend with be swimsuit, sunglasses, and a cherry red Essie nail polish. This nautical striped tunic will be perfect for tossing on over my bikini for sunbathing breaks, and though I did bring a striped dress to wear just in case, I really don't anticipate changing out of my swimsuit for the next 48 hours.
What are you plans?

Sipping Pretty

Having snagged two tunics, two skirts, a bikini, clutch, tote, and canister from Target's Liberty of London line, you would think that my craving might have been satisfied. You would be wrong.
Now that the collection is available again online, I haven't been able to stop thinking about the two-tiered dessert tray (for the second time around -- I was fleetingly fascinated with it back in April). I would use it when I bake, when and if that happens, but mostly I'd use it to display my jewelry.
Maybe I could get one for my vanity and one for my kitchen, to go with the rest of the gorgeous cookware. Right now I have a jumbled collection of dishes and glasses, but all I want is a set of pretty kitchenware that looks like it belongs. Maybe a bunch of floral-print melamine bowls and plates aren't practical for longtime use, but they sure would be nice for summer.

Birthday Girl

What should be on my birthday list: pots, pans, practical things.
What is on my birthday list: these Coach heels. I could wear them with everything. And with that neutral color, they're practical, too. Right?
