The Scene hairstyle is a new and undefined look that has grown out of experimentation with emo hair by creative girls and amateur stylists all over the country. It generally features longer hair length than the emo hairdo, and it also shares one of its defining characteristic with emo, the drooping bangs across the eyes. Scene hair is definitely a fashion statement, but since it is conceived of as like the emo but unlike it, it is very hard to give it a definition.

The emo is almost always thought to as darkly colored, spiky in the back, and featuring long bangs in the front that will cover one or both eyes. Scene hair, if it is different from emo hair in any substantial way, is long in the back, and this area of length may be untouched, heavily styled, straightened, ragged, or distressed. In the area of the front of the head, the scene look is virtually identical to the emo look. It has the same latitude of color and length, and the same emphasis on bangs.

Scene hair can take longer bangs than the emo look, but emo was originally designed to be an easily put together and flexible style, so it is a bit of a stretch to say that emo bangs can’t be too long. The attempts to push emo bangs to extremes are probably what led to the development of the Scene look. With hair color, the preferred tints and tone are virtually identical in both styles.
