A sixteen hour road trip calls for the comfiest clothes that can be found in a closet. In my case, it's this two-sizes-too-big striped sweatshirt, oversized bright blue T-shirt, cut-off jeans shorts, and moccasins, which are one the closest thing to slippers I can get away with.It took serious willpower not to pack every navy nautical stripe in my closet, since I'm going to be on a boat for five days and nothing says "seasoned boater" quite like navy stripes. I justified this one because it's a sweatshirt that can keep me warm in a drafty hotel room, aboard the boat, or on the return trip to chilly Missouri.
Plus, it makes me feel like a sailor. Even if I'm going to be on a highway instead of the sea.
